Gadi dialect

Kwami, do you happen to recall where the statement about the Gadi dialect came from? I don't see anything to that effect in the small number of readily accessible sources (though of course, there are quite a few that I don't have access to at the moment). – Uanfala (talk) 14:10, 15 August 2020 (UTC)

Since it's not Blench, I would assume it had to be Ethnologue (currently offline, as usual). At the time, I was simply trying to get complete WP coverage of the world's languages, and was rather liberal in merging lects. I think it might be justified to split the article based on Blench. You mean, split Kakihum language again? That has been merged at ISO, and by glottolog as well . But that's not my concern really, my question was about the name. I was wondering where Gadi was attested. The pre-merge entry at Ethnologue doesn't seem to mention it . I'm bringing this up because Gadi is also a variant spelling for the Gaddi language, and I was about to turn the redirect Gadi language into a dab page, but before doing so I would need to be able to verify that the name is attested for the dialect here. – Uanfala (talk) 14:43, 15 August 2020 (UTC)

Blench gives Gadi and Vadi (both with implosive d's) as related but distinct languages. I can't confirm a source that Gadi should be merged specifically with Vadi. — kwami (talk) 06:10, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
