Error fix

Fixed some strange errors which looked as if the page had been edited too often without proof-reading. The last paragraph is still not perfect (e.g. are the monuments a result of the riches earned by smuggling or was that just mentioned in passing? Was Cottessen _called_ the most beautiful nature area (by whomever) or was it official _named_ as such?) It should be reworked by someone from Vaals who knows a bit more (I'm from Aachen). Spanish Students

"Many Spanish students have decided to live in Vaals."

Whoot?

Is there ANY proof for this? I am living in Aachen and visit Vaals quite often, I never noticed any significant amount of spanisch students at all. I know: That is no proof either but as much as I hate the ominnipresent "citation needed" tag even for the most obvious statements - in this case I would like to see a citation myself. Wrong etymology

The article states the following:

Vaals is first mentioned in historical documents in the year 1041. The village was referred to as either Vals or Vallis, meaning valley. In that time Holy Roman Emperor Henry III donated land to the Abbey of St. Adalbert. To distinguish this from any land closer to the nearby city of Aachen, it is specifically referred to as being "in the valley" – in Vallis.

This is nonsense. The writer clearly has not even a basic knowledge of Latin.

"in the valley" translates as "in valle", and certainly not "in vallis", because vallis is in the nominative (or genitive), and not in the ablative which is required here.

However, "vallis" is as well the ablative form of "vallum" (=wall) in the plural. So, in that case "in vallis" translates as "in the walls".

In addition, "vallis" is also the ablative form of "vallus" (=stake) in the plural. So, in this case "in vallis" translates as "in the stakes".

The sentence in question is this one:

et potestative in villis Harive, Vals, Apine, Falchenbergh habuimus
