History of V-mail

Does anyone know anything about the history of V-mail. The article doesn't address who invented it, when it was first used, when the last letters were sent, etc. --Daysleeper47 (talk) 17:35, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi Daysleeper47: Some of its history was described in an excellent article in Air & Space magazine, unfortunately I lost track of that issue. I believe that story was similar to the ones published in the Smithsonian magazine that are cited in this Wikipedia article. If you Google "V-mail", I believe that there's more history also available at the British Post Office and other sites.

How long did it take?

How long did V-mail take? the article doesn't specify and I'm sure different theaters were different, but would it fair to say the three-week length mentioned in 1941 in Egypt was at least a good rule of thumb, with some a bit more, some a bit less? It might be nice to put a one-sentence comment about how long on average it took, even if the variables were too great to give a really good figure.108.192.86.137 (talk) 01:53, 9 November 2014 (UTC)

Hybrid mail

The Hybrid mail article defines the term as a combination of physical and electronic processes, while V-mail uses film. Either this article should remove the hybrid mail reference, or that article should be corrected. yutsi (talk) 01:34, 16 May 2025 (UTC)
