Merging from Avani Avittam / Upaakarma
[edit]I realised that there are two articles with different spellings covering more or less same date. So I propose to merge the other one into this. I have ported some extra information from Upaakarma to this. Need to sort this article, which I plan to do a little later.

[edit]Just went through this article; This page deals with the criteria as followed by people following Souramana paddhathi[Solar calendar] it would be nice if you include the Chandramana Paddhathi which is different from the above in terms of dates and maybe practices ... Yes disambiguation to separate out both the methods[on the same page is also fine]
