The start of the history section does not sound objective. It sounds like the author has an anti-christian bias. I suggest it be re-written with a a more-objective tone.

--- agreed. it all comes of as someone being very desperate to validate this new ceremony by portraying it as 'something that existed a long time ago but was then forbidden by christians'. History section would be appreciated, but also there should be clarification on what religious tradition this is done in. Is this a christian tradition? Not "traditional" at all

Quality of image for main photo

I have a modern, higher-resolution photograph of a unity candle which I own and have released under a free license on Wikimedia Commons.

I think it may be a stronger lead image for this article because the candle itself is more prominently and centrally framed, whereas the current image places substantially more visual emphasis on the couple.
