Talk:Umbrian language

Theres NO native name for the Umbrian language by the Umbrians.

As i said in the title, there’s no name for what the umbians called their language. There’s no 𐌔𐌍𐌉𐌅𐌖𐌊𐌉 (ikuvins), it might be an unsourced content.So im willing for someone to delete it. If i am wrong, you can reply to me. Newroderick895 (talk) 19:49, 13 February 2018 (UTC)

I agree; from what I can see in various online books, the word ikuvins is well attested, but it's apparently just an adjectival toponym, meaning "from Iguvium". While Iguvium may have been an important centre of the Umbri, I can find no indication that this was used as the name of the Umbrian language. Impoverished Site

Why is there no information about the actual language here--phonology, morphology, vocabulary, syntax...as there is for most other languages? If I cite everything, I hope it's ok if add some of this content. Thanks for the encouragement. I have started the process and will continue as time and energy allows. I am just now reminded how, when I took Italic Dialects long ago, they were introduced as the 'poor cousins' of Latin, lol.
