Since this article has not been worked on in some time and is lacking some of the finer points I will be adding some additonal information. I will be adding background information, trying to add other links, and increase the length by incorporating other stages of failure. I have made another set of revisions to include methods to improve the strength of a material. These techniques include heat treatment, cold and hot working.
