Talk:Ujigami

Judging from the characters used to write the word, I would have assumed 氏神 to refer to the kami of a clan (氏), and not to the kami of a place (所、処、場、など). What is the word for the kami of a clan, if not ujigami? LordAmeth (talk) 14:04, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Becoming an ujiko

I corrected the translation for the ujiko section, but in my understanding, one automatically becomes an ujiko of the local ujigami when one is born or moves into that region. I've seen this fact mentioned in passing several times, but nothing concrete enough to use as a source. The section on ujiko is currently very poorly cited anyway (one of those sources doesn't even support the claim its placed after), so additional research and sourcing would be beneficial to clarify if these rituals are necessary to become an ujiko or more of just official acknowledgement.
