Service in Wang Ching-wei's Republic of China Navy

[edit]

Since the Japanese transfered the ship to the Chinese navy of Wang Ching-wei's Republic of China shouldn't the flag of that navy be shown as well? If the United States acquired a vessel from, say, Germany, and passed it on to, say, Argentina, would we not show the Argentine naval flag?(71.22.47.232 (talk) 08:33, 23 January 2011 (UTC))Reply

Regarding the fate of the ship

[edit]

The infobox currently states that the ship remained in service in the People’s Republic of China until the 1960s, while the main text states that she was sunk by Nationalist aircraft in 1949. This seems somewhat contradictory.

The sources I have found indicate that the ship does not appear in the combat order of battle of the PLA Navy after 1949. This would be rather surprising given the severe shortage of warships faced by the newly established PLA Navy. It therefore seems quite possible that the ship was indeed lost before the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and that the claim that she remained in service until the 1960s may be incorrect.

In addition, most sources I have found state that the ship participated in the 1949 naval uprising and subsequently joined the PLA Navy, rather than being captured by the PLA. Therefore, describing her as having been “captured” by the PLA may not be sufficiently accurate. Kleinton (talk) 19:28, 21 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
