Article quality

[edit]

This article is way too long, contains much duplication and very mixed writing quality. It needs a good trim. John (talk) 18:16, 23 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

I've had a look at bringing it closer to a decent standard. I'm glad to see that only one two of my edits were reverted. The article is still way too long, particularly the lead. Not everything needs to be mentioned in the article, which is why we have summary style. Not every album needs to be mentioned in the lead. Phrases like "new musical direction" have a comic effect which takes away from the article's encyclopedic tone and should be kept out. John (talk) 22:19, 23 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Arena rock

[edit]

Should 'arena rock' be added to their genres? Ask any random person what they think of as 'arena rock' and I'm sure they'd bring up U2. TripleTrouble37 (talk) 17:03, 25 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

I'm of the opinion that arena rock is not really a genre (regardless of what the Wikipedia article says), it's more of a status assigned to bands that reach a certain level of popularity as a live act and a description of their performance style. I don't know how you discern a song playing on the radio as being arena rock vs. not. We can certainly add more about the descriptor in the Musical style section, since many critics describe them that way, but I would be against putting it as a genre in the infobox. Y2kcrazyjoker4 + blues rock until punk rock

[edit]

Hello Y2kcrazyjoker4, my name is Vlad Bușilă and I live from Galati. And Guys I wish that U2 plays also blues rock, art rock and punk rock (early) for three genres. Please added genres. But first, U2 plays also punk rock. But I know that infobox has enough; the genre discussion clearly covers this with detailed prose later on, doesn't need to be repeated at the top. But I wish that. Just please added modify blues rock, art rock and punk rock (early), pretty please. Can you please? I promise. ~2025-32216-30 (talk) 14:19, 3 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Past Members?

[edit]

what are you talking about? they never performed as 'U2' as a 6 man band ~2026-42084-2 (talk) 00:16, 20 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Where in the article did it ever claim that they did? Y2Kcrazyjoker4 (talk contributions) 04:23, 20 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
It has two past members in the info box. I'm no expert but it seems these two were in a previous band before they became U2. ~2026-38659-74 (talk) 23:08, 7 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
It's the same band, just by a different name. Y2Kcrazyjoker4 (talk contributions) 02:40, 8 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
