Why not merge this into Self-organizing map. Are there any other topics that use the U-Matrix, that would merit a stand-alone article? Rmkeller (talk) 04:18, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

This article needs to start with "In the mathematical theory of computer science and MAP is XXXX." where MAP link and XXXX is a terse definition (e.g., a mathematical object that describes a large data set.)

Then to a SELF LEARNING MAP is a special case that XXXX.
