Does this recent ESPN special on Tyson, and his father suffice as making their bond notable?
Latest comment: 2 years ago3 comments3 people in discussion
I kindly request the recognition of Travis Bagent as the father of Tyson Bagent on Tyson's Wikipedia page. Travis Bagent, a distinguished figure in the arm wrestling community, boasts a myriad of national and international accolades. His involvement in an arm wrestling league televised on ESPN, coupled with his world champion status, and possibly being the best left handed arm wrestler all time should mean he's notable enough. Further evidenced by a recent ESPN/SC special on youtube you can find titled "A son of an arm-wrestling champ gearing up for the NFL Draft | SC Featured." This status in the sport of arm wrestling, and video substantiate the acknowledgment of their familial bond on the platform. The man had an influence on his son
Incorporating this detail on Tyson's Wikipedia page would offer a more comprehensive and precise depiction of his origins while addressing the curiosity of Wikipedia's users. The platform frequently acknowledges the notable parentage of children when their parents have achieved significant prominence in their respective fields, even if niche. Considering Travis Bagent's eminence in arm wrestling, it is fitting for him to be recognized on his son's page as well.
Therefore, I respectfully urge you to consider adding Travis Bagent as Tyson Bagent's father on Tyson's Wikipedia page. If this is still not notable enough, please explain why Canmonkeydo (talk) 14:25, 26 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Canmonkeydo, I've read your source (In the past actually, I'm a Shepherd alum.) This isn't really one of those things that a rule is attached to per se, but if you want to have Tyson's father mentioned in the article, we'd need more than source on that, using this guidance. typically, the first thing we'd want to do is create an article for the subject, but in this case, it might be best to only mention his father and his accoldaes (briefly,) in a "Personal life" section on Tysons page. I can look into that this evening if you'd like, and I'll ping you when I'm finished. SPF121188(talk this way)(my edits)18:24, 26 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

A anon keeps adding statements about Bagent's fitness that appear to be sourced. However, none of the sources provided are real. The URLs bomb out and give 404 errors on their respective websites. None of the authors provided in the citations appear to be real either. I've tried to look up the claims, but this seems like misinformation unfortunately. --StarScream1007►Talk15:59, 16 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
You're 100% correct, StarScream1007, none of these claims are verifiable through any reliable source. These were added erroneously and even if they were true, it wouldn't have been suitable for the lead. We'll have to keep an eye out. Thanks for catching it!SPF121188(talk this way)(my edits)13:49, 17 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
