Reviewing this; one more company article by you! Odd to have a company article on a company that only ever made one game, but it's got the sourcing, so lets check it out. As always, I review articles by making a list of issues as I read through, rather than using a template; I'll make any minor grammar edits myself.
"Alex Hutchinson, Yassine Riahi, and Reid Schneider had worked together at Electronic Arts on the Army of Two series."
- when?- 2010, specifically Army of Two: The 40th Day. Riahi and Schneider also worked on the previous game before Hutchinson transferred over from Maxis. If only a source said that! IceWelder [✉] 10:02, 23 May 2026 (UTC)
"with Hutchinson describing it as an indie game he wanted players to finish"
- my reading of the earlier sentence,"Schneider described a market largely split between small-scale indie games and big-budget AAA games, with very few mid-sized titles. The studio sought to occupy the latter space"
, was that they were making a mid-sized title, not an indie; if this is intended to be a change, maybe "with Hutchinson now describing it as an indie game he wanted players to finish"- The earlier text referred to the middle ground between huge-team, huge-budget AAA games and mini-team, mini-budget indie games. Despite Hutchinson's "indie" description, the game clearly still fell into the medium-team, medium-budget category (26 people, external funding, external publisher, $30 price tag). I wasn't sure how to reword this, so I removed it instead. IceWelder [✉] 10:02, 23 May 2026 (UTC)
"With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic at this time, the Typhoon Studios team worked remotely and never entered Google's offices."
- Something's off or missing here; they got bought in December, but Covid was only in China at that time- the first case didn't reach Canada until January 25, 2020 (3 days before their game was released), and it wasn't treated as an emergency that required remote work until late March. I think adding some phrasing would remove the confusion, like "The Typhoon Studios team worked remotely and never entered Google's offices before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic prevented them from doing so." Or something like that.- Good catch! I moved the sentence around to be more choronologically accurate. Hutchinson's interview statement — "We got bought by Google the day the pandemic basically kicked off." — must have thrown me off here.
- Since they only made the one game, maybe the lede should mention what platforms it was released for rather than just
"Journey to the Savage Planet was released in January 2020"
- Like with Volition, I appreciate that you spend time talking about where the principles ended up after the studio closed (especially since it really seems to just be Typhoon with a coat of pain).
- Let's just hope it's not too much pain. :) IceWelder [✉] 10:02, 23 May 2026 (UTC)
- Only potential source issue is whether GamesMarket is an RS, but I think it's okay
- Yes, GamesMark(e)t is on our list. They seem to have anglified their name recently, it still says "GamesMarkt" (German-ish) in the my Wayback snapshot. IceWelder [✉] 10:02, 23 May 2026 (UTC)
Looking great overall! Placing on-hold for the small issues listed. --PresN 20:10, 22 May 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you again, @PresN! I made a few edits that should address the above. Regards, IceWelder [✉] 10:02, 23 May 2026 (UTC)
- Alright, promoting! --PresN 16:51, 23 May 2026 (UTC)

- ... that Typhoon Studios fitted its first office with IKEA desks and used furniture from Craigslist? Source: Behind the scenes at Typhoon Studios: an exclusive visit to Montreal’s super-indie (ref #9 in the article).

@IceWelder: Date, size, other spotchecks all fine (recent GA nom). QPQ done. The problem is that IMHO this hook is extremely boring and fails badly at WP:DYKINTEREST. So the company used cheap furniture for its first office. Ummm. Mundane to the bone for me. I know, this is subjective, but can we have some alt hooks to consider? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:27, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Piotrus: Sure, I get that. Please consider these ALTs:
- ALT1: ... that, unwilling to pay rent, Typhoon Studios set up its first office in a windowless motion capture studio?
- ALT2: ... that the employees of Typhoon Studios, despite being acquired by Google, never entered its offices?
- ALT3: ... that Google closed Typhoon Studios on the same day it released Journey to the Savage Planet on Stadia?
- ALT4: ... that the closure of Typhoon Studios left Journey to the Savage Planet on Stadia with a game-breaking bug?
- Regards, IceWelder [✉] 19:23, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
@IceWelder: Out of these, I think ALT4 is best as it is about the studio and somewhat interesting; I find the others more of a coincidence or mundane. Of course, promoting admin may overrule me and choose another hook if they find it more interesting. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:17, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
