non-mathematical sense of linear?
[edit]- The tool's axes of movement may be literally a straight line, or they may be along some set of curves or angles, but they are essentially linear (in the non mathematical sense).

Definition
[edit]Not convinced that this definition is entirely clear. Perhaps the focus should first be on turning as the process which removes material from a workpiece as it rotates on a lathe? Derek J Moore (talk) 15:13, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
