So why did my aunt bring a dish to Thanksgiving called a "Tureen of Wild Bird parts" which was more of an aspic or pate (except nothing was ground up, livers, kidneys, etc were whole - which is what, she said, made it a tureen instead of a pate)?

Alternate use of the word?

Pete
