I have to do a small edit of that line. I really don't think that with just 400 workers that the StarKist plant could be considered Charlotte County's largest employer at the time. I would think that Connors Bros., in Blacks Harbour, would have been the largest employer in Charlotte County at the time. Infinitrium 05:12, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Something triggered a memory of this long forgotten scandal and I googled it. Here I am. I have a vague memory of there being more to it. Was not the tuna relabeled and exported to be sold as pet food. And then some was relabeled again and imported back to Canada to sell as tuna? I don't remember for certain, it was so long ago but there were some humorous stories on the radio when I was young about "it's ba-aaack." CharlesKiddell (talk) 23:28, 19 March 2017 (UTC)
Page name
[edit]As someone who lived through this event in Canada, I was very surprised to see it referred to on Wikipedia as "Tunagate". I don't recall that name ever being used at the time of the event. It was the "Tainted Tuna Scandal". A web search does show that the term "Tunagate" is now also used, but so is "Tainted Tuna Scandal".
