Line colours

I seem to remember reading in:

• Garland, Ken (1994). Mr. Beck's Underground Map. Capital Books.

that one reason for the original chosen colours was their distinction in poor lighting. The article only mentions print technology, not lighting considerations.

Unsupported claim. Despite the large number of versions over the years, the perception of many users is that the current map is, more or less, Beck's original version from the 1930s, a testament to the effectiveness of his design [citation needed]. FACT: the current map has very little resemblance to the Beck's designs. Outdated tube map

The tube map at the top of the article is outdated. As I looked at the image, it is in a horrible quality, making it really hard to read and spot the differences. The differences I saw are the IKEA symbols being represented, the Overground lines not represented, Thameslink looking a little bit different (specifically around the Sutton loop), and Barking Riverside being shown as under construction. I hope the image will be fixed soon. (if anyone has the time to do it) AltoHampton (talk) 19:25, 21 February 2026 (UTC)

It has to be low-quality. It is a copyrighted image, so we can only use it under the WP:FAIRUSE provisions that limit size and resolution, and restrict how it can be used. There is not much point in keeping it bang up-to-date, as it is unusable for practical purposes, and only exists to provide a recognisable image of the map as a whole. -- Verbarson  ^talk_edits 19:42, 21 February 2026 (UTC)

Thanks. I understand now. Sometimes, restrictions interfere with certain things. Also, I forgot that it was copyrighted. But after reading your reply, I understand now as there’ not much we can do with restrictions. AltoHampton (talk) 19:21, 22 February 2026 (UTC)

Thameslink not shown correctly on table

On the table of all of the lines, Thameslink isn’t shown right. Below is the Thameslink representation.

Is there a way to make it shown right? All the other lines were shown accurately, including the Cable Car, but Thameslink is the only one not shown right. The gaps in between are too short and the border is not visible. Although, I don’t think this will get corrected. AltoHampton (talk) 23:51, 27 February 2026 (UTC)

Elizabeth Line color

On the table of lines, the Elizabeth Line’s color in Pantone is Pantone 368. But, when I looked into it, Pantone 368 is the color (or colour in this case) of the London Trams.
