Redirect to "Troll (Internet)"

[edit]

Requesting a redirect to there because it is more specific and more likely to be what people are looking for when entering the term. Lord British (talk) 15:26, 18 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. Lord British (talk) 18:16, 18 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, @Lord British, this page must be redirected for WP:TROLL, Do you have any suggestions for doing this? 177.105.94.73 (talk) 20:26, 28 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Please allow us to edit the page 'Trollface'. 222.164.58.83 (talk) 09:27, 25 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Not done This is not the place to request additional user rights. Also, this page is semi-protected, not fully protected, so you should have used the semi-protected edit request instead. Joseph2302 (talk) 10:42, 25 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Joseph2302: It's fully protected, find the prot log - it says "[edit=sysop]", so the use of {{edit protected}} was appropriate. --Redrose64 (talk) 14:49, 25 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
Really? Because if you go to the top lock on the top-right corner of the article, it says "article semi-protected" . Also, I can edit it, and I'm not an admin. I'm confused...... Joseph2302 (talk) 14:52, 25 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
Troll (Internet) is semi-protected, yes; but the request was to edit Trollface, you can tell this by the first parameter of the {{edit protected}} above, and also by what was displayed in the box before you altered |answered=no to |answered=yes: it said "It is requested that an edit be made to the fully protected redirect at Trollface". That box also has direct links to the prot log. --Redrose64 (talk) 17:12, 25 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Please change this page so that it redirects to Internet troll rather than Troll (Internet) to avoid a double redirect. Thank you. Granger (talk · contribs) 14:10, 5 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Remove this passage from the History section: From November 16 to 20, 2020, a Reddit user by the name of unfunny_man123 began posting videos that features a distorted and creepy version of the troll face. It was posted in 5 parts, counting down until November 21, when the user posted a final video featuring an encounter with the creepy troll face. The final Reddit post garnered over 3,000 upvotes, and has been viewed by thousands

It's completely irrelevant to troll face. Really, this entire page should be revamped, adding mentions of its impact on pop culture as a whole and its reappearence in recent memes (dark memes, incident memes, etc). However, that's not the point of this suggestion, which is to remove this selection of text that is the wikipedia equivalent of a self-insert character. I would like to add a "resurgence" section as it has found its way back into meme culture recently. HutchDoesStuff (talk) 21:46, 9 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Trollge exclusion from Wikipedia

[edit]

Why no Trollge? Trollge is a creepier variant of Trollface. Why don't you like them? 93.171.13.145 (talk) 08:52, 17 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

This is for Trollface, not variants ItchyBurrito (talk) 01:30, 12 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Should the article at least mention it? 73.159.231.128 (talk) 00:02, 28 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
No, its unrelated ItchyBurrito (talk) 19:29, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Trollge is similar enough to warrant being on this page. It is an edited version of the troll face. If the Wojak page can have edited versions of the original wojak, I see no reason this cannot be the same for the troll face. The Yellow Slug (talk) 23:23, 13 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
I probably don't think so because Trollge is very macabre and Wikipedia would certainly block it (or no), @73.159.231.128. 177.105.94.73 (talk) 20:23, 28 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Trollface origin is most likely inaccurate

[edit]

I was around in 2008 on 4chan's /v/ board and noticed that this article says that the Deviantart post is the origin on september 19, 2008. I actually have that same comic saved from august 22, 2008 (and the original probably predates even that) which is a month earlier than what is being claimed here. Is there a way for me to prove that the image I have is authentic? I've changed hard drives a few times since then but the "Date modified" attribute still shows august 22, 2008. I also have my doubts that the creator is who is being claimed here. Bslash777 (talk) 15:03, 1 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Kid Pix origin

[edit]

The earliest versions of Kid Pix has an icon which strikingly resembles the troll face. Did he make fun of that icon (the creator of the image)? Picaboo3 (talk) 02:07, 17 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Change image for "The Original Trollface" to this https://i.redd.it/bb5uquff3bm81.png

The "original" ought to reflect how 'rage faces' were originally made in MS Paint at a low resolution. The image currently displayed is a vector version not made until years after the original meme, and entire class of memes, gained popularity Citations-sneeded (talk) 12:51, 1 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{Edit semi-protected}} template. I also suggest you upload the image in question to WP:COMMONS. M.Bitton (talk) 13:14, 9 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
Partly done: Noted in caption that the image is a vectorized version of the original comic. Subject to consensus, the article image could be switched to the original version, but I maintain that the current image, as the far more popular version, is more relevant for illustrating Trollface. I also note to M.Bitton that the image is fair use, and thus cannot be uploaded to commons. userdude 20:20, 18 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
