At least in the US, anesthesia providers are rarely involved until a patient is in the operating room. The trauma team is a group of surgical and emergency physicians, with emergency physicians in charge of airway and surgery and emergency generally alternating as team leads. 69.140.86.49 (talk) 01:24, 2 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
This is not necessarily true. I've worked at two level I trauma centers at which it was standard for an anesthesiologist to handle airway management of major trauma cases in the ED.Akigawa (talk) 00:39, 25 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
