Source: She put out four studio albums between 2003 and 2012, the last one (Voyageur) cracking the Top 40 on the U.S. Billboard charts. Touring took a toll on Edwards's mental and physical health, and in 2014 she quit the music business and opened a coffee shop (called Quitters) near her hometown of Ottawa
- ALT1:... that Maren Morris helped convince Kathleen Edwards to return to the music industry and release Total Freedom? Source: It was Maren Morris, asking if Edwards wanted to co-write a song ... Edwards said the opportunity was a fresh start. She gave herself some time away from Quitters’ day-to-day operations and “started playing guitar every day just to see what would happen.” ... The result is “Total Freedom,” Edwards’s first album in eight years
