COI Edit Request: Product Line Updates & Brand Context
[edit]| This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest was declined. Some or all of the changes may be promotional in tone. |
Hello! I am an employee of Tomofun/Furbo (disclosed on my user page). I would like to propose a few neutral, factual updates to bring the Tomofun article up to date with our current product line and company history.
Request 1: Opening Paragraph Clarification
[edit]- **Current Text:** "Tomofun is an international pet technology startup founded in 2014 by Victor Chang and mentored by Steve Chang..."
- **Proposed Text:** "Tomofun is a pet technology company that manufactures the Furbo line of pet cameras.[1] Founded in 2014 by Victor Chang and Maggie Cheung, the company was mentored by Steve Chang..."
- **Reasoning:** Improves clarity by establishing the relationship between the parent company (Tomofun) and its primary product brand (Furbo) in the lead sentence, while adding co-founder verification per standard Wikipedia company article guidelines.
Request 2: Update "Products and features" Section
[edit]- **Proposed Action:** Rename the existing "Products" section to "Products and features", and update the section content to reflect current hardware models and software service branding:
== Products and features ==
=== Cameras ===
Following the 2016 release of the original treat-tossing camera, Tomofun expanded the Furbo product line to include additional camera models:
Furbo 360° Dog Camera: Released in 2022, the model features a 360-degree rotating camera base, color night vision, automatic dog tracking, and treat-tossing capabilities.<ref>{{cite news |url=https://www.wired.com/review/furbo-360-dog-camera/ |title=Furbo 360° Dog Camera Review |publisher=WIRED |date=2022}}</ref>
Furbo 360° Cat Camera: A variant of the camera featuring cat-specific behavioral monitoring and built-in interactive wand attachments.<ref>{{cite web |url=https://www.makeuseof.com/furbo-360-cat-camera-review/ |title=Furbo 360 Cat Camera Review |publisher=MakeUseOf}}</ref>
Furbo Mini & Furbo Mini 360°: Compact versions of the camera system available for use in smaller spaces or as additional cameras.<ref>{{cite news |url=https://www.wired.com/gallery/best-pet-cameras/ |title=The Best Pet Cameras |publisher=WIRED}}</ref>
=== Software and AI Services ===
Furbo Nanny: Originally launched in 2018 as "Furbo Dog Nanny," the cloud-based subscription service was later rebranded to "Furbo Nanny" to encompass multi-pet monitoring.<ref>{{cite news |url=https://techcrunch.com/2017/11/14/furbo-unveils-treat-tossing-dog-camera-with-smart-alerts-like-when-your-dog-is-pacing/ |title=Furbo unveils treat-tossing dog camera with smart alerts, like when your dog is pacing |publisher=TechCrunch}}</ref> The software uses machine learning models to detect events including barking, meowing, pet activity, glass breaking, and carbon monoxide or smoke detector alarms.<ref>{{cite news |url=https://www.wired.com/gallery/best-pet-cameras/ |title=The Best Pet Cameras |publisher=WIRED}}</ref>

Not done: A majority of the requested changes are currently written in a promotional tone. Please review WP:Neutral point of view and ensure you follow this before submitting any edit requests. Violates WP:NOT. 🄻os🄰 14:08, 14 August 2026 (UTC)
- I revised the sections to address the promotional-tone concern by removing subjective or marketing-oriented language and replacing it with neutral, factual descriptions. I also revised the company lead to clearly describe Tomofun’s relationship to the Furbo product line, removed the subjective phrase “best known as,” and retained the existing factual information and citations. In the Products and Features section, I similarly removed evaluative wording such as “upgraded” and “tailored” and replaced it with straightforward descriptions of the products and their features.
