Persian etymology?

Origin of the word could be a combination of these two words: Tah in Persian language means Bottom; end or the lowest point ; and Maa in several archaic languages means Land ; therefore one can conclude that it means the low-land. Tihamah = Hejaz?

Is Hejaz and Tihamah the same? At least I get the impression that there is an overlap. Hejaz seems to go a bit further into the land and not covering the southern coast, but the map is really very confusing. --Oddeivind (talk) 07:32, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

Map contradicts lead

"... the Red Sea coastal plain of the Arabian Peninsula from the Gulf of Aqaba to the Bab el Mandeb" says the lead. But the map (see green line) leaves out the entire length of the Gulf of Aqaba plus a section going south of the Straits of Tiran. Huge difference. What shall we understand of it? I have removed the map for the above reason until it's fixed.

It was created in 2006 and posted in 2013, both times by User:LePatro, who had a very short Wikipedia presence in 2013 (blocked for disruptive editing?), so someone else must fix it. Arminden (talk) 12:01, 11 May 2024 (UTC)
