Fair use rationale for Image:Tigerheli 01.png

[edit]

Image:Tigerheli 01.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Gameplay

[edit]
 Done -- Roberth Martinez (talk) 12:28, 23 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
  • When you first mention bonus points, that's the first time there is any mention of there being a scoring system. And since the game doesn't seem to end (it just loops forever?) I would mention something about the scoring system existing in the first paragraph. Seems like getting a high score is sorta the main drive of the game, as it was with most arcade games of this time.
Done -- OK, so the line you're alluding to (Destroying ground targets also allows the player to discover secrets that provide bonus points) i moved it to the first paragraph of the gameplay section. Roberth Martinez (talk) 12:28, 23 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Development

[edit]
  • Tiger-Heli was the first shoot 'em up by Toaplan, which previously worked on Performan. What is Performan and why are you mentioning it? Was it Toaplan's only shooter before this one?
I modified the line in question. Tiger-Heli was Toaplan's first shoot 'em up. Performan was an action game. Roberth Martinez (talk) 12:49, 23 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
  • Yuge, Uemura, and Nozawa had worked for Japanese companies Orca and Crux, respectively I'm not sure what respectively means here. There's three people and two companies, so I'm not sure what you mean here.
It's complicated but to give you a small resume: Yuge, Uemura, and Nozawa first worked at Orca before that company went bankrupt. Uemura then moved to Crux before that one went bust too. The three eventually moved to Toaplan. If you want me to remove the "respectively" word in question, then i removed it. Roberth Martinez (talk) 12:49, 23 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
  • With Vastar and Gyrodine, I would say what kind of game they are when you introduce them. e.g. "Nozawa had previously created the shooter Gyrodine," or something like that

  • They also felt the helicopter theme was more fitting, as the game was developed with a cocktail cabinet in mind. How is a helicopter theme fitting for a cocktail cabinet? hmmm i'm thinking maybe the joystick is more similar to a helicopter control system? I wonder if they said why
Here is the paragraph in question from the "making of" feature for Tiger-Heli in issue 275 of Retro Gamer: "Tiger-Heli also endeavoured to bring something of a diorama like experience to the genre, letting the player sit over a tiny world at their control – another design facet that the team hoped would bring more welcoming realism and familiarity. That, in turn, would lead to the game’s focus on helicopters – particularly as the player vehicle. 'We developed it with a cocktail cabinet – so the sit-down table cabs – in mind,' Yuge explains. 'So instead of looking front on, you were looking down, and when we had that in mind, it felt like a fighter plane being able to move all around the screen would feel a bit unrealistic. You know; you’re holding the joystick and moving around, and a helicopter theme fitted in with that much better." That is the reason why i went with the current line in question but i'm open to any change to that particular line. Roberth Martinez (talk) 12:56, 23 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

  • Wikilink flight simulator

  • Wikilink Taito, and say that their the publisher, because this is the only time you mention them in the development history.

Thanks for being patient. I'll get to the rest soon. TarkusABtalk/contrib 08:38, 23 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

@TarkusAB:First pass done! I'll be on stand by to any other aspect needed to be tackled. Roberth Martinez (talk) 12:58, 23 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Release

[edit]
  • Talk about the Polymega and Arcade Collection Vol. 1 at the end of paragraph 2 instead of in paragraph 3. Keep paragraph 2 about the re-releases, and paragraph 3 only about the Atari 7800 game, which is entirely a different thing than a simple re-release.
 Done -- Roberth Martinez (talk) 19:25, 23 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
  • So I didn't know this but the Atari version was officially created with current IP holder Tatsujin's blessing (as noted in the Time Extension review). I would note that here. From what's written here it seems to just be a fan game.

Reception

[edit]
  • I would move the Micom Basic comment to the first paragraph, and have the second paragraph just for retrospective arcade reviews, and I would introduce them as such, like "Retrospective reviews were positive" or something. It's not clear right now what is a contemporary or retrospective review.
 Done -- Roberth Martinez (talk) 19:40, 23 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
  • This is more of a personal taste, but I really don't like mixing contemporary and retrospective reviews in the review score box. I would personally take out the 7800 scores and AllGame score (put them in prose instead), and just have it be a contemporary NES score list and move it to the NES section. You don't have to do this, but I feel this would be an improvement.

Lead

[edit]
  • The team chose a helicopter theme as they deemed it suitable for a shooter that had the screen continuously scrolling. I think it was more because it fit thematically with a cocktail cabinet design, not a scrolling screen.
I altered the line so hopefully this one sticks the landing. Roberth Martinez (talk) 19:47, 23 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
  • I would introduce the 7800 version in the third paragraph and mention it was officially licensed. It's a strange aftermarket release, and listing it at the top of the article along with the original releases feels off.

OK here are some more comments. TarkusABtalk/contrib 18:10, 23 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
