[edit]The "criticism" section seems to be entirely from one moderately successful e-book, and seems more a plug for that book's theory than anything else. It would be good to have some general examples of criticism, noting that not all screenwriters and teachers of screenwriting adhere to the three-act structure, but to devote such time and words to one particular criticism seems excessive. 50.77.202.213 (talk) 13:58, 25 August 2016 (UTC)
Add an Examples section?
[edit]Undoubtedly some folks arrive upon this article looking for examples of popular 3-act plays, etc. Perhaps an Examples section could be added, even subdivided by musicals, dramas, comedies, etc. Bob Enyart, Denver KGOV radio host (talk) 00:33, 23 March 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for the suggestion, but I think this is a bad idea disguised as a good idea. As elaborated at WP:SPAMBAIT, "Examples in articles tend to attract spam. . . Examples should only be given if they are highly relevant to the article topic, and should always be sourced with independent, reliable sources." I would argue that nearly all plots that work have the three-act structure. Hence, there are too many to list in an Examples section or embedded into the article text. If we begin such a section, every Tom, Dick, and Harry will never cease inserting stuff into it.—Anita5192 (talk) 02:42, 23 March 2020 (UTC)
I can fix this article with history, but...
[edit]I can fix this with history, but the problem is that the history of the Three and Five act are very, very tied together. So I'm not sure how to fix this for the article. I have about 20% more research to go to find the last pieces of this history. I'm fairly close. So any proposals of what to do when the history of two things are very much the same?
