The Contender is limited not by pressure, but by case head thrust, and the 40,000 CUP limit is provably wrong. The .223 Remington, a very popular factory offering in the Contender, has a SAAMI average pressure of 55kpsi (52,000 CUP), and is fine due to the small case head. With its massive case head, the .45-70 is limited to somewhere under 28,000 CUP (based on comparing T/C specific load data to .45-70 load data for the Springfield 1873 and Marlin 1895), and the in-between sized .30-30 is limited to 42kpsi (38,000 CUP). SAAMI pressure data, both copper crusher and transducer, can be found at https://saami.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/206.pdf 2600:1700:6F40:3720:0:0:0:C (talk) 20:32, 28 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
