Eddie Fisher and Elizabeth Taylor'a affair was in 1958 and Elizabeth Taylor and Debbie Reynolds met on a cruise in 1966. So it was eight years later, not twelve years later. I also don't think there is any evidence that "they grew to hate each other." There is also no evidence that Carrie Fisher engineered the cruise ship reunion in 1966.
