Family History

[edit]

This section should be rewritten to discuss Case's early life and preparation prior to his winning the Navy contract that started Case Research Labs. The rich-family material is interesting and relevant but secondary. Did Case show early aptitude or interests? What got him into early electronics? Was he a radio amateur or something like that? Where did he go to college--or did he, since his family could have indulged him and encouraged technical self study(cf. Bill Gates, who had a $25000 computer at home on which he learned to program as a kid). Honestly, why did he get the Navy contract? (Many of his age were fighting in WW I--was there a reason (bad eyesight? family influence?) that he didn't? We are past the time where his "honor" needs defending.) And what did he do till the end of his life after movie optical sound was a settled thing?

Case is an underappreciated inventor who probably should be more widely known. I sense a biography project here. Was he inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame?216.40.140.5 (talk) 01:25, 1 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

General

[edit]

This article and the closely-related articles on "Phonofilm" and "Movietone sound system" seem by style and content to have the same author, in significant part. The criticism of DeForest's use of Case designs in all three articles is informative but deserves to have some references. That is true of other parts of all three of these otherwise interesting articles.216.40.140.5 (talk) 01:32, 1 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

There is also an incorrect link from the Case Mansion (in Auburn NY) to an article for a building with the same name in Canton OH. Closcholar (talk) 23:58, 23 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Awful.

[edit]

This entry on Wikipedia is awful. It seem as if it was written by a family member. It reads like a High school student wrote it. There are no sources for many of the claims, statements like- A family member claims, who is the family member? There is also speculation in the article about his car being turned into a Hot Rod. It is awful. I am going to go through this article and remove the non sourced fluff statements, and if the article becomes a bare bones article because of statements being removed that have no sources, then that is what it will become. Sorry.--74.179.215.67 (talk) 20:29, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
