The Jury

I've used the painting 'The Jury' by John Morgan because, despite its anachronisms, it resembles the Chorus more closely than would any swarm of wasps. Besides, we import modern images into ancient drama all the time, mostly at the imaginative level. I doubt it will last long - some other editor is certain to remove it as an anchronism unworthy of a serious encyclopaedia. Nav. box

I have restored the nav box (linking to Aristophanes' plays) to the top of the article because it allows for easy cross-referencing between plays and because it is a useful reminder that each play is best understood in the context of all the plays. Lucretius (talk) 00:13, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Editing for Clarity and added Sources

I've overhauled the article for higher clarity and additional sources. I moved the historical context section to before the plot summary, as it adds crucial context to the plot of The Wasps. I also split up the historical context section and added citations for previously uncited statements. I copy edited the plot, and added a synopsis for quicker overall reference. I renamed the Discussion section to Scholarship to better align with other pages of the same nature, and added some more scholarship I was able to find, particularly in relation to the naming conventions and relation to other plays of the era. I also found another open source translation by Eugene O'Neill to the translations section and renamed Miscellaneous to Adaptions and Other Works since that seems to be what is covered in that section.
