This thing has been copied and pasted from here:

http://www.investigateur.info/zines/textes/176_alqaeda.html

Even the name of the page was copied:

L'investigateur - tous droits réservés

"Tous droits réservés" means "All rights reserved".

OBL's "scores of wealthy brothers"

[edit]

I first excised, and then restored the phrase "scores of" from a description of OBL's brother. The article on his father Mohammed bin Awad bin Laden says OBL had 53 siblings. Forty of the 53 would have to be male for him to have "scores" of brothers. But when I removed this claim which didn't seem credible to me I didn't notice it seemed to be a quote. If it is a quote, which can be referenced, it doesn't matter that it is not credible.

On the credibility question -- were all OBL's siblings wealthy? Did they all inherit a share of dad's estate sufficient to all them "wealthy"? OBL founded al Qaeda over 20 years after his father's death. How many of his siblings remained wealthy after more than 20 years? Geo Swan (talk) 15:30, 9 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Problematic article, barely any sources

[edit]

This page is highly problematic.

  1. The information in this article is largely unsourced
  2. The 5 sources in the References are mostly meaningless
  3. For example "Wall Street Journal, 3/18/2003" does not tell us much. No link, no title of the article, no author

I welcome any help to add reliable sources. Alternatively we might have to delete the article.

Merge proposal

[edit]

Propose to merge The Golden Chain into Al-Qaeda#Financing. The primary piece of WP:RS is already covered in the merge target, and infrequent citations in various court cases, without significant, lasting impact, does not bode well for establishing WP:GNG. Coverage of this list in the broader context of more fulsome and extensive coverage of al-Qaeda's finances on the merge target page is more appropriate. WP:PAGELENGTH is not a concern, because the merge could include a mere two or three sentences of content. Longhornsg (talk) 20:34, 12 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
