In expanding the synopsis I dropped the part about the patient, Sandra, being decapitated before giving birth, since that's, like, the "final twist" which is the whole point of reading the story, a la a Twilight Zone episode. Any thoughts? --209.149.235.254 20:18, 22 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Synopsis question
[edit]I think the synopsis needs some work - the second paragraph is confusing, and the barkeep from the Bronx is not explained at all. -Elizabennet | talk 22:06, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
- This appears to have been fixed, and the reference to the barkeep is dropped. -- The Bronx? In the version I have (UK paperback - picked it up on holiday when I was a teen) he's from Brooklyn. Ellsworth (talk) 03:10, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
- The version I searched on Amazon shows Stevens (the barkeep) is from Brooklyn in the US paperback. As usual with UK/US editions there are minor differences in spelling, colloquial expressions, etc. The one I always remember with amusement is that in the US version David's preferred cocktail is a scotch and soda, whereas in my UK paperback it's a Bombay martini.
