Title

[edit]

I wasn't sure what this page should be titled, so I made this list of all sources I could find:

  • The Batman Part II: THR, Variety, TheWrap, IndieWire, Gizmodo
  • The Batman – Part II: NYT, LA Times, Collider, IGN, Den of Geek, Screen Rant, Polygon, DC Comics
  • Outliers: Deadline, /Film, Reuters, ComicBook.com

It seems The Batman – Part II is the winner here. InfiniteNexus (talk) 22:46, 31 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

WP:BOLDly moved, as no one has responded. InfiniteNexus (talk) 04:43, 1 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Seems Matt Reeves stated on Instagram and X that the film does not contain a colon. I think we should go with the director along with THR and Variety on this. Much like Back to the Future Part II and The Godfather Part II. WickedFanAccount (talk) 05:43, 11 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
The sources mainly indicate the film title uses a hyphen (–). Matt Reeves' stylization on Instagram is from a primary source, and shouldn't be the reason for ignoring the eight sources that use the hyphen. An example of a film's title being different to what it is marketed as is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Mjks28 (talk) 07:43, 11 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
I agree that we should not be changing the most commonly accepted as correct title unless we have concrete confirmation the long hyphen is excluded from the official title. This can be determined from the billing block on the poster once that eventually becomes released years from now, though often times, the logo would probably not feature it. The fact that DC.com uses the hyphen adds weight to its inclusion being correct, and Reeves' post could just be a shorthand stylization or his preferred method. We just don't know enough to make a definitive call on removing the hyphen entirely. Trailblazer101 (talk) 15:09, 11 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Filming in correlation to the Hollywood labor disputes

[edit]

Since Midgard Times is not a reliable source, is it true that there are no reliable sources (without traces to Midgard Times) contextualizing the filming for this film in correlation to the 2023 Hollywood labor disputes per WP:NORUSH? 2607:FEA8:761F:4600:84C0:EB0E:65B5:817F (talk) 21:13, 28 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Since Midgard Times is unreliable, and any sources gathering information from them cannot be used per WP:FRUIT, we do not presently have a reliable source to use for when filming may be scheduled to begin. Bear in mind, no filming can occur until the SAG-AFTRA strike is resolved, and even then, we will need an updated source for any filming details, which can be added once they become available. Until such updates are provided to the trades or public, the filming information should remain as is, and once the initially scheduled November 2023 timeframe passes, we can adjust the wording to indicate that this was expected, as in it did not occur. As with NORUSH, we will just have to wait and see on when updates are made. Trailblazer101 (talk) 21:35, 28 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Camera testing

[edit]

Would Reeves’ camera testing count as filming starting or no? Seems a bit of a grey area IMO. MarioProtIV (talk/contribs) 01:11, 8 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Camera testing is explicitly NOT the start of principal photography. It is a natural part of the pre-production process like location scouting, and no sources would reasonably confuse it for filming. Trailblazer101🔥 (discuss · contribs) 01:27, 8 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Sebastian Stan's role

[edit]

Should we remove the part about Sebastian Stan playing Harvey Dent from the cast and body sections of the article, following the recent Jeff Sneider's report that Stan will really play Victor Zsasz (here)? If it's done, we could add something like "reports indicate Stan could play either Harvey Dent or Victor Zsasz" or something like that or better. In the article, Sneider also mentions that Brian Tyree Henry is the one playing Dent. Marco camino 10 (talk) 16:12, 12 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

No. The major trades like Deadline, THR, and Variety have reported Stan is playing Harvey Dent. Sneider explicitly says his report is a rumor, so we should be treating it as such until any reputable sources weigh in. Trailblazer101🔥 (discuss · contribs) 17:12, 12 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I will add that should we mention Sneider's report, it should remain in prose and be cited by this third-party ComicBook ref. Trailblazer101🔥 (discuss · contribs) 17:17, 12 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Or this Gizmodo ref, as well. I am not readily available to make the proper additions. Trailblazer101🔥 (discuss · contribs) 17:18, 12 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Honestly, I don't know how to proceed in this situation. After publishing the article, Sneider has spent all afternoon defending his point to other X users who question it, especially regarding Stan's role as Zsasz. If nothing comes up in a few hours, it would seem premature to leave the entire cast section as is, without even naming something there also, since today's news has radically changed it. Marco camino 10 (talk) 20:43, 12 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Until we have further clarification from more reputable sources, we should give the trades' reports more weight than Sneider's. He did label his newsletter report a rumor for a reason, and we would require other reputable sources to verify his claims to state it as definitive in wikivoice. For now, we can leave the mention in prose attributed to him. There's a lot to be said about these reports, but we should not rush into changing information when we do not have all the information readily verifiable. Production has begun

[edit]

Matt Reeves posted a shot from set showing that production has begun. Independent source on that here. Are we good to work on taking this page out of draftspace? KingEuronIIIGreyjoy (talk) 21:03, 12 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Robin and Doctor arkham

[edit]

Both of these characters are NOT confirmed to be in the movie or "Expected" at all, james gunn even denied Robin's involvement. The sources cited are also not credible and are often speculative and incorrect. To avoid confusing casual fans or interest, do not list them until official confirmation. Stick to known fact.

Jeff Schneider is not a reliable source. ErosionMitchell (talk) 09:19, 27 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Consensus established at WP:JEFFSNEIDER states otherwise. You may not agree with the source, but you cannot just disregard verifiable reputable information just because you don't like it. It has already been explained to you multiple times now why this information is included, and I offered up a compromise of tagging it as needing a better source, but you need to stop edit warring. It is disruptive regardless of whether you believe you are right. Trailblazer101🔥 (discuss · contribs) 13:45, 27 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

why is unconfirmed speculation being allowed on this page

[edit]

It has not been officially confirmed that Sebastian Stan is playing Harvey Dent, nor that Scarlett Johansson is playing Dent's wife, nor that the court of owls are in the film, yet this page is full of this unconfirmed speculation that the user Trailblazer is committed to keeping on the page, constantly reversing any attempt of removing this information then banning those who oppose them. It is utterly ridiculous that this misinformation is allowed on a Wikipedia page. Logan0676 (talk) 14:29, 3 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia does not have to wait for official confirmation of any kind. All information included is based on what is verifiable from reliable sources. Trailblazer101🔥 (discuss · contribs) 14:30, 3 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
How are scoopers and insiders verifiable reliable sources? Just because a previous makeup artist for Sebastian Stan posts images of two face on their Instagram and some news site writes on that doesn't at all mean it is verifiable and reliable to say he is playing Harvey Dent, especially since this page doesn't even say they are "rumoured" or "speculated" to play that role. This page is stating it as a confirmed fact, which it is not. And the section about Robin and the Court of Owls is even less reliable since it's just making a massive stretch that these things are featured in a comic book that someone associated with the film referenced. None of this is reliable information. Logan0676 (talk) 14:33, 3 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
That is not what I said and not what the information is attributed to. Even Justin Kroll at Deadline Hollywood and writers for The Hollywood Reporter and Variety have reported on the Dents. Information will not be removed just because you do not like it. Trailblazer101🔥 (discuss · contribs) 19:45, 3 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
