Pronunciation

[edit]

I have heard that it is pronounced "Tankerton" (and can render that for the article in IPA easily enough if confirmed). Does anyone with local knowledge know if this is true? Sometimes a place with a spelling that clearly points one way will have two legitimately used local pronunciations if the historically prevalent one is not discernible from the spelling, so it might not be that everyone who lives there says it this way.
