To merge or not to merge?
[edit]The article says "Textile art is synonymous with Fiber art." The Fiber art article has a {{distinguish}} implying otherwise. Are the topics the same, or different? And if the same, should the articles be merged? — Sonata Green(talk) 23:08, 26 May 2026 (UTC)
- I personally think they should be merged. That being said the Fiber art article makes the distinction that fiber arts are in the vein of fines arts, ie. purely decorative, while Textile arts is a more inclusive term in the vein of decorative arts that could include basket weaving, textiles as used in clothes, rugs, etc. in addition to purely artistic strains. I don't see why fiber art couldn't be merged and made into a greatly expanded textiles as art section within the Textile arts page. Regardless I think something should be done to resolve the contradiction between these two pages. All that being said I have no clue on how to do the actually merger or how exactly the respective articles should be edited to resolve said contradiction. Whoman560 (talk) 23:51, 19 July 2026 (UTC)
