Updating examples part

[edit]

Just flagging that I plan to expand on this page in the coming weeks. I will be discussing existing/planned deployments in depth. As a result, I plan to remove the existing table as it contains irrelevant information (Powerpack deployments for example). Would any of this information be useful for the Powerpack page? There is no deployments section on that page right now.Empire-ants (talk) 23:43, 19 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

the moss landing project was delayed due to covid. construction started around 8/1/20,

i was hoping to find more details of the cost, expected payback time etc.

Major update

[edit]

I've just fleshed out the article a bit. My main concern with it now is the competitors section. I've probably missed some. I thought that it was important to talk about NGK to show the differences between li-on and NaS batteries. Please let me know on my user talk page if I can improve it.Empire-ants (talk) 11:51, 27 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Why mention the competition?

[edit]

Unless it has some major relevance to the history of development, mentioning a product's competitors reeks of third-party self-promotion, and really has no place on this page. This information should be on each of their pages.72.174.71.134 (talk) 20:49, 27 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

I agree. --ZimZalaBim talk 03:24, 22 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Weight ?

[edit]

Where does the number "23.1 tons" come from? The source says "nearly 51,000 lbs". Neither assuming short tone (2,000 lbs) or long tons (2,240 lbs) makes "23.1 tons"...?

Sparker system

[edit]

According to https://www.pge.com/assets/pge/currents/safety/esrg-elkhorn-fire-report-09.2022.pdf Tesla has included a proprietary feature, starting with Megapack 1, to ignite battery off-gasses ASAP in order to minimize the quantity of fuel vapor, instead of waiting for the accumulation to potentially pressurize and catastrophically explode. This appears to be the reason that Tesla's BESSs destruction is limited to a single container, whereas other BESS designs take out multiple containers and potentially the entire site unless constrained by application of water by firefighters to cool the conflagration. I would love to see a photo of the "Sparker System" for comparison to a spark plug. Oh! Autobidder

[edit]

AI system that decides when to buy and sell energy, competition differentiator. This could have its own section.~2026-36795-82 (talk) 06:11, 29 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Megablock

[edit]

I think a section on this is needed. Eventhough based on magapacks, it again speeds up deployment (pre-wired, from 24 connections per pack to 3 connections per pack),even lower construction costs etc ~2026-36795-82 (talk) 06:30, 29 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
