No concerns

I saw on the front page of Wikipedia:WikiProject Law that "Terry stop needs to be fixed...multiple warnings," but other than updates needed, I don't see a single problem with this. Am I missing something? Bearian (talk) 20:47, 9 May 2025 (UTC)

Yes, I think you might be. Why? Because the article has far too lengthy detail about controversy (e.g. "hypermasculinity") rather than subject of the article; places undue emphasis on harms of Terry stops without mentioning benefits especially in light of 2020 onward e.g. negative consequences of police discontinuation of most Terry stops in certain cities e.g. San Diego.

One source that is cited 6 times is a self-published advocacy paper arguing against Terry stops. (I didn't replace it.)

I did remove the citation for a sentence about applicability to buses being different (which isn't true). It was sourced to the blog of an advocacy group (blogs aren't WP:RS) American Immigration Council. They publish posts like this, How The Trump Administration Uses the Power of Government to Make Its Dystopian Propaganda Real, which is clearly not WP:NPOV.

Also, I have some concerns about whether the article should be mid-importance for Wikiproject Law and Wikiproject United States. I think it should be low for both.--FeralOink (talk) 14:52, 5 August 2025 (UTC)
