New enough (nominated within a day of creation), long enough (2669 characters). Well sourced to a variety of books as well as web articles written by Tim Lawrence, who is an expert in his field. Earwig says copyvio unlikely and quotes are appropriately attributed. Tone is neutral. 2 QPQs have been completed. This leaves the hook. @No Swan So Fine: We try to avoid unattributed quotes in hooks as much as possible...in this case it seems like it needs some contextualization to hint who said it (a writer? a former patron?). @No Swan So Fine: Another thing (for presentability): Could you please expand the first paragraph by at least one sentence? One-sentence ledes are stub-like (stubs don't qualify for DYK) and problematic for search engines, etc. Cielquiparle (talk) 02:46, 7 June 2026 (UTC)

@No Swan So Fine: The article looks good but the hook has now gone too far in the other direction! Now it's too complete and of course the art of the DYK hook is brevity and a bit of mystery (or imbalance almost) that makes the reader want to click. So it would be great if you could propose some variations that leave out specific details. And then I will approve and the promoter can choose. Thank you.
