Model 37 quality

We had a Model 37 KSR in college. It was in most ways a step down in quality from even the economical Model 33. While theoretically 50% faster, most modems of the time were 110 and 300 baud, nothing much at 150baud. The whole thing reeked of slapdash quality. The cabinet was like four pieces of cheap plastic that did not hold together very well and all the joints clunked and rattled. If you leaned on it, you'd back off as the plastic would bow down and threaten to crack. The keyboard had plastic keycaps that reluctantly slid down when pressed, not a quality feel. The whole cabinet shook and vibrated. Our department tried one out for a month and said heck no, don't buy any more. Haven't seen one since 1974.
