Wrong redirect

[edit]

Telegram instantly redirects to Telegraphy#Telegram services so there is no way to reach e.g. Telegram (software). Should probably be a disambiguation page? -- 2003:C9:470C:5A00:2DC4:DF46:3BDF:D3D5 (talk) 04:02, 15 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

There is a hatnote "Telegram" redirects here. For other uses, see Telegram (disambiguation). at the top of Telegraphy#Telegram services. I see a case for the outmoded paper message no longer being the primary topic and for the disambiguation page to move to the base name "Telegram", but it is probably not clear enough to do boldly and would require consensus. Please feel free to propose a requested move. Certes (talk) 14:51, 15 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

split to its own article

[edit]

Following the discussion at Talk:Telegram (disambiguation) and experience with redirect traffic measurements elsewhere, we weren't actually getting the realistic traffic for telegrams in the previous situation. I split it off from the telegraphy article because it is not that strictly bound to that topic, it will make the reader experience more straightforward, and should also help us get a clearer reading of current usage. --Joy (talk) 09:50, 17 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
