Romania

[edit]

There the Jewish "Cultura" schools were only established once the anti-Jewish laws were decreed and Jewish students, teachers and professors were thrown out from their schools and universities, and remained active throughout the war against the USSR, at least until Romania changed sides in August 1944 and abolished those laws.

Romania is mentioned in the lead and then forgotten again. A good part of the country's Jews survived, unlike those from Poland, making the living legacy of the Cultura schools a very important one, which is probably less the case with the occupied countries like Poland.
