Civilization name

I changed "Tambora is also a name for the unidentified civilization" to "also a name used to describe" to clarify that the unidentified civilization does not have an official name. I also added the link to the "Year Without a Summer." - Kevingarcia 23:47, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

I removed the redundant link to Mount Tambora and the sentence about the "Year Without a Summer". The latter doesn't belong in a disambiguation article, as it adds nothing to defining this use of the title word/phrase/name. Ah, no problem. The reason I included the Year Without a Summer link is, well, I imagine many people searching for Tambora are doing so in reference to the massive volcanic explossion. Either way though, it's not hard to find once you've found one entry or the other. - Kevingarcia 06:33, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

Now I've removed a direct but uncredited quote of an entire paragraph from both the Yahoo! News and Guardian articles (suggesting that the original material is actually from AP). I can see creating a stub article for all this interest in expanding this use of the name "Tambora", but I'd like to resolve two problems first:

1. We need more than a single source (AP) with only a current report of a possible discovery. The AP article implies that historians and/or archaeologists have written about these people. Can we dig up some of these writings?
2. What should we call the article — "Tambora (people)", "Tambora (civilization)" (or civilisation), "Tambora (village)", or something else entirely? I'd prefer to review several authoritative sources to confirm actual usage of the term, then review Wikipedia:Naming conventions and related articles to determine the best title.

I would suggest "Tambora (people)" or "Tambora (civilization)". I think "Tamobora (village)" is not good, because it is unlikely that there was a single village involved, even if that might be all that is known of now. Another possibility might be "Tambora (culture)". We need some sociologists or ethnographers to weigh in. Hu 07:51, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

That's why I'm hoping we can dig up some sources, which are infinitely preferably to editors' opinions because the latters' credentials usually can't be verified as easily as checking source provenance.
