I do feel that "with England" is a bit superfluous - with what other countries does Scotland have (land) borders? Also: the term "Borders" has always been taken to mean this region. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Maelli (talk • contribs) 12:25, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Motifs

This section is an excellent idea, but it begins "Child took the threat to take out Tam Lin's eyes..." but there is no mention of that threat previously in the article, so the reader is left somewhat bewildered. Wastrel Way (talk) 03:37, 31 May 2021 (UTC) Eric

Glasgow Reel

The article lede mentions the "Glasgow Reel". Further down the article, the "Popular recordings" table mixed recordings of the ballad with recordings of the reel. I’ve split the table so that the ballad and the reel are listed separately. It’s possible that some instrumental recordings are not the same reel, so I’ve kept the heading of the instrumental table vague. --Northernhenge (talk) 20:40, 2 January 2024 (UTC)

A ballad twice-listed, a retelling not at all

A link within various modern versions of Tam Lin (Tam Lin Retold goes instead to a partial version of this page not mentioning (except in passing, Benjamin Zephaniah late professor of English Poetry/ holder of 16 honorary doctorates, Rastafarian, and musician who performed on The Wailer’s first album after Bob Marley’s death, and well enough respected to have his own page of his long list of accomplishments. Would the author of the shorter Tam Lin page please remove what seems to be censorship of Zephaniah’s version for reasons unknown and its replacement with a page hacked from this one? Strong language, I know, but that’s what APPEARS to have sadly happened here. Linguistic Irregular (talk) 11:22, 22 February 2026 (UTC)
