The Essay writing is not correct Tahan is a small place in Burma, located between Kalemyo and Chin state, in Sagaing division. Tahan was found by Mizo people . Later on Falam people from Chin state moved to Tahan and try to chase Mizo people out of Burma since Tahan has to offer more economic, social opportunities than Chin state. A lot of law suit were file by Falam people against Mizo to chase out of Burma, stating that Mizo were foreigner from Mizoram, India. Even though Mizo were born and generations and generations were lived in Burma, they were not considered full Burmese citizen. Some of the Falam people from Chin state moved to Tahan and try to give Mizo people a hard time to live in Burma until now. Tahan Mizos suffer a great amount of discrimination in Burma. Mizo rebel (Volunteer) from Mizoram state, India came to invaded Tahan, claiming Tahan and Chin state as part of Mizoram. Burmese government chased Mizo rebel (Volunteer) easily back to Mizoram but considered Tahan Mizo as traitor. Even though Tahan Mizo has nothing to do with invasion Burmese government arrested a lot of Tahan Mizo, tortured and killed them. At one point Burmese government try to bomb Tahan to kill all Mizos in Tahan. But there is other race like Tidim, Hakha, Falam and some burman live among Mizos. Burmese government doesn't want to kill other race. That's is the only reason they didn't bomb Tahan and kill all Mizos.

Now, Tahan is mixed with Mizo, Tidim, Hakha, Falan, Zangiat and Burman. Now becoming apart of Kalay town under administration of Township Officer. Tahan is facilitate with a college, high school, market, clinics (private and church based) and lots of churches. 99% of inhabitants in Tahan is Christian even though Burma is a Budhist country. Burmese government still treat Mizo tribal as outsider since there is a mizo state in India called Mizoram, in the border of Burma and India. Mizo tribal don't get full citizenship in Burma like other Burmese. But now Burmese government is considering to give full citizenship, since there are so many mizo's serve in a Burmese military and lots of them lost their life while fighting war for Burma. If not for Mizos people in Burmese military, Burma will not become Burma, It might be Karen country!. Because Karen people almost conquest the whole Burma. Nobody willing to fight back to Karen but Chin & Mizo (Lushai) (Chin Battalions 1,2,3 etc) military. That's why Burma is still Burma now.

Upstream from Mandalay and Monywa on the Chindwin River, Taha is gaining importance as a staging point for trade between Burma and India (Kalaymyo is about 150 km from the Burma-India border at Tamu).

As it was uncommon for all the other cities, towns and villages in Myanmar, Tahan is also suppress by the military. The military were raping cilivian daughters and wives, rapping young ladies. Forcing them for labor, collecting the money, taking their lands, houses and properties by force were very common, and is probably worst than the other towns and cities.Since they considered Mizos as foreigner, they treat them like property. As this things were happened years after years, the result lead their ladies to become prostitute not because they want, but to please the military.

It is also noticed that Human trafficking is also very popular in this small town of Tahan. To the person, and to their mother and father it is promised that they will provide a good job in foreign like Thailand, Malaysia, and in Singapore. Yes, they were provided, but the job to lead them to be prostitution, and they themselves doesn't know that they were bought by some one else for their business.

Electricity, oils and good facilities were not provided by the govt. There is an airport at Kalaymyo( about 3 miles from Tahan) an extension of a British built Second World War airstrip that was used to ferry troops and supplies into Burma during the British reconquest of Burma in 1945.[1]

Existence and notability

I was unable to find Tahan on the NGA GEOnet Names database, or on Falling Rain Genomics, Inc., or on Maplandia. The only populated place which starts with "Tah" that is listed for Sagaing by NGA GEOnet Names database (or Fallingrain) is "Tahpala" which is a considerable distance from Kalaymyo, and seems unrelated. There is a "Tahon" which appears as a small village on the map published March 1960, Mawlaik, Burma, NF-46-3 (U.S.) Army Map Service, about 3 kiliometers west of Kalaymyo, but not at the listed coordinates. The listed coordinates place Tahan northeast of a spot also marked Kalaymyo on GoogleEarth, but not elsewhere, a (mythical? erroneous placed?) Kalaymyo which is east of the Chindwin River opposite Kalewa. The spot that is labeled Tahon on the March 1960 AMS map appears on GoogleEarth to be subsumed into Kalaymyo. I find the lack of references in the article troubling. In Google Books, I did find mentions of a Seventh Day Adventist mission and a Presbyterian Church in Tahan, Kalaymyo Township, as well as the line The principal Chin district, Tahan, is 3km west of downtown and has a market too. in Lonely Planet's 2005 guide to Myanmar (Burma). That guide mentions that Kalaymyo is 15 km long and seldom more than two blocks wide, and that the Chin predominate in the western half of the city. It seems to me that at best Tahan is a neighborhood, and should be treated as such in this article, or probably more appropriately merged into the Kalaymyo article. --Bejnar (talk) 05:15, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

POV

It seems that much of this article does not take a neutral point of view. For example, in the /* Chin & Lushai Battalions */ section it says about the Karen minority If there weren't Chin&Lushai(Mizo) battalions, Burma will not become Union of Burma, It might be Karen country!. --Bejnar (talk) 03:20, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

As per the article's POV tag the Tahan story definitely needs to be told in a more neutral tone - not to mention some serious cleaning. There are many Wikipedia articles about the Holocaust that describe Nazi atrocities while maintaining WP:NPOV. Editors contributing to Tahan might find these helpful for style - Operation Reinhard and Action T4 as well as Burma related articles such as Human rights in Burma and Internal conflict in Burma.
