Oppose merge to Ouija

Derren Brown

In Derren Browns show "Evening of Wonders", he did table turning. The way he chose the people to perform it was by picking 10 people out of the audience, then he gave them all pendulums, which they held at arms length, then asked them to make it swing one way, then circles. The four people whose pendulums swung best were chosen as the table turners. I think this would be an interesting thing to add to the article to demonstrate the link to the ideomotor effect and suggestion (though not in the hypnosis sense, just instructions). We can't say too much, as that might fall under original research, but worded well I think it would make a great addition. It shouldn't be too hard to find people specifically writing about table-turning and the ideomotor effect, which would be easier to quote from and reference. --McGeddon (talk) 14:35, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Observation

For the record, I was at a table turning event once (just a slight movement actually). While the event was on I looked under the table to make sure people were not lifting it unconsciously, and indeed they were not. Brian Josephson (talk) 10:18, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
