History

Because I have been asked, here is a potted history of the ship, some of it may not be absolutely reliable, just gleaned by naive browsing. I expect some reference book has all this, and better. Mostly from and references in article. Also try registering at Ships Nostalgia and search for Leda.

1974 Ceased as ferry and laid up Bergen, idle until 1977.
1977 Sold to Stord Verft as accommodation vessel at Stavanger.
1979 (1978?) Sold to: Kuwait Livestock Trading and Transport Co., renamed Najla (also listed as Nalja) but not used for livestock . Chartered to Lewis Offshore as accommodation vessel at Stornoway.
1980 towed to Stavanger for lay-up.
1981 towed to Kuwait.
1981 Sold to Aspis Maritime (Panama)
1981 Sold to Dolphin Hellas (Greece)renamed Albatros. Being rebuilt until 1984 when started as a cruise ship.
1984 Renamed Alegro (temporarily for South American cruises) owner: Dolphin Hellas.
1985 Rebuilt? renamed Albatross owner: Dolphin Hellas.
1988 Chartered to American Star Line (Greek owned). Renamed Betsy Ross Intended cruises of America but Mediditerranean instead.
1988 Lay idle at Pireus.
1988 Cruising Africa.
1989 Chartered to Star Lauro. Renamed Amalfi cruising from Venice. Sold to: Beacon Seaways (Greece).
1989 Laid up Venice for some months.
1990 Sold at auction to Stargas registered as owned by Valgas Trading (Malta, Registered Vanuatu). Renamed Star of Venice Operated Star Cruise Line
1991 Caught fire in Venice, rebuilt in Yugoslavia.
1992 Police hostel ship Genoa
1992 Accommodation vessel for prison guards, Pianosa, Italy. Laid up Venice.
1993 Sold to Newport Shipping Co. Panama.
1995 Sold to Star of Venice Navigation (Panama)
199? Laid up Rijeka
1998 Mediterranean Cruises
1999 (Laid up as?) Hotel ship Ravenna
2001 Sold to breakers (Swiss ownership?) Towed to Aliaga for breaking up.
