One or two telescopes?
[edit]It is implied (grammatically) that the pair acts as a single observation tool (perhaps exploiting the large separation for stereoscopic observation). But there is nothing semantically in the article to confirm if and how that would be the case. It would be nice to clarify that if anybody knows. 49.197.208.119 (talk) 22:31, 15 March 2017 (UTC)
- Two telescopes, one project. Although because of their locations some of their observable space sections overlap, which would for example allow for follow up observations and calibration, the primary purpose is to cover the northern and southern hemisphere, respectively. It still can be considered a single observatory, since the data collection and analysis as well as telescope control are located in Leuven (Liège). For technical reasons optical interferometry / aperture synthesis is not possible (yet?) at such a distance. See: Aperture synthesis. --Wassermensch (talk) 13:45, 30 March 2017 (CET)
