Ongoing interference

[edit]

Suspicious accounts continue to try injecting marketing-speak and scrub any mention that the company is now or ever was Chinese. Some rebuttals to the common arguments:

They have registered companies in many countries to do business there. That doesn't change the origin or host of the main company, controlling all the others, headquartered in Shenzhen, China.

For instance, their Singapore company is registered to 7 Temasek Boulevard, Suntec tower one, a building which happens to host "virtual offices" for companies that just want an address with their real presence elsewhere.

They also have a company registered in the UK: it's just registered to a distribution warehouse, not a headquarters.

Their real headquarters were designed by some very proud architects in 2017 . I see no signs they've moved out.

On most of their country-specific "about us" pages they don't go into specifics about where they're based, but on their chinese "about us" page (use google translate) they're happy to admit they're based in Shenzhen. I don't think the company's reluctance to admit it and the accounts here trying to conceal it are unrelated. I'm going to keep reverting all such edits for strong suspicion of WP:PE. If you want to argue otherwise, reply to me here with a reliable, notable source saying that tp-link is headquartered somewhere else. 82.12.148.203 (talk) 23:46, 31 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Isn't that interesting; the corporate "about us" page that hasn't changed in years suddenly scrubs the references to being based in Shenzhen after I bring them up and link them here. Here's a diff of the changes (via google translate) if you're curious. I'll change the links in my original post to the archived versions, saved when I first posted them. 82.12.148.203 (talk) 18:26, 12 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Huh, that is interesting. I kinda found my way into this whole mess, as every source except the TP-Link website cites their headquarters as being in China. However, I did find this "At the beginning of this year, TP-Link Corporation Group (TP-Link®) began its formal organizational separation from TP-LINK Technologies Co., Ltd. (TP-LINK®) in China, which now functions as a standalone entity. This separation encompassed all shareholdings and all operational aspects, including legal entities, workforce, research and development, production, marketing, and customer service." from the english website, inferring a split in the company in 2022, however, I cannot find any other corroborating sources for this split into a separate Chinese and non-Chinese entity. All very sus. 70.21.15.10 (talk) 01:22, 30 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
@70.21.15.10 TP-Link's global and other non-Chinese sites now confirm the recent separation of its international business (now legally based in Singapore with marketing, R&D, etc. based in the U.S.) from the original Chinese company. https://www.tp-link.com/en/press/news/21130/ The Chinese company's site at https://www.tp-link.com.cn/ has reverted to the pre-2016 logo and now formally spells its name "TP-LINK" in all caps; though it still sells networking equipment most of TP-Link's international trademark lines (Archer, Deco, Omada, Tapo, Kasa) are no longer there. Meanwhile, the China page on TP-Link's international website apparently hasn't been updated since 2022. I'm not gonna edit the page myself (probably needs deeper confirmation), but I can think of three good reasons for TP-Link to spin off its international business: (a) the Chinese company has numerous service provider contracts with Chinese state entities that imply close links to the CCP which could lead to a Huawei-like ban; (b) lingering privacy concerns that have continued even after TP-Link moved its international data operations to Hong Kong a few years earlier; and (c) a growing reliance by the international company on Wi-Fi 6E & 7 products in the 6 GHz band which is not available for Wi-Fi in China. --RBBrittain (talk) 22:06, 6 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
A shill went ahead and made the change; they cite a couple of churnalism mills regurgitating the press release. I'm reluctant to remove something that might now be true because of previous shady behaviour and WP:PE, but I don't like letting companies edit the wiki via press release. I don't know how likely we are to see independent confirmation or refutation of this in either scenario. 82.12.148.203 (talk) 23:36, 7 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
I do some work with TP-Link as a consultant, and as such did not want to edit the article directly. Instead, I wanted to offer the following information about the company forming a wholly US-based entity, breaking from the original Chinese company and hope that someone can correct the opening paragraph of the article.
As outlined in this article, the Chinese entity TP-Link Technologies focuses on the Chinese market (https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-04-11/wi-fi-giant-tp-link-s-us-future-hinges-on-its-claimed-split-from-china). Additional evidence of the company's US headquarters is available in this Orange County Business Journal article: https://www.ocbj.com/technology/tp-link-systems-moves-into-new-worldwide-hq/#:~:text=New%20headquarters%20for%20TP%2DLink,23.). I think for accuracy, the article could explain that its origins were in China, but in 2021, the company divided to form a U.S.-based entity TP-Link Systems that is based in Irvine California that focuses on the US and rest of the world. TP-Link Technologies Co. Ltd., located in China, and no longer affiliated with TP-Link Systems, focuses exclusively on Mainland China's market.
Thank you in advance for your consideration of this edit ti improve the accuracy of this article. Gguice (talk) 17:21, 25 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
The page was still not updated as of now, but it needs to. Auguste76840 (talk) 09:17, 16 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
English is not by native language so pls forgive any following mistakes I make.
Chinese wiki pages are facing same problems. Suspicious accounts have been removing any words about Mainland China (2024/6/15). Also, the descriptions in History are similar in all languages. Due to the political situation, i think it's crucial to emphasize TP-link's connection to China (PROC). Or creating a page to describe the connection between the companies under TP-link.
I believe that TP-link are trying to break away from China. You can't find anything about China by searching it on GOOGLE. Benson5650 (talk) 14:59, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Market leadership

[edit]

I’m affiliated with TP-Link and would like to request some factual, neutral updates to improve the article’s balance and reflect notable developments. I understand Wikipedia’s conflict of interest (COI) guidelines and am submitting this as a request rather than editing directly.

2. Wi-Fi 7 product innovation: https://www.tp-link.com/us/press/news/20273/

[edit]

Was indeed mentioned in the article that "TP-Link Corporation began to separate from TP-LINK Technologies Co., Ltd. (TP-LINK) in China", which is clearly evident in the two unrelated official website of the two separate entities, namely

- TP-LINK Technologies Co., Ltd (https://www.tp-link.com.cn/), which is 普联技术有限公司

-TP-Link Systems Inc. (https://www.tp-link.com/us/about-us/corporate-information/) which is 联洲国际技术有限公司 Lianzhou International Co., Ltd, also evident here http://www.tplinkglobal.com/.

Both companies use the trademark "TP-Link" in its product line, which can be confusing for readers who are unaware of the entity history. There might be a need to clarify this in the article. Tayx81992 (talk) 06:36, 11 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

The global website is https://www.tp-link.com/ though. The website is hosted on AWS contrary to the two others. But we do not need just a "clarification" honestly but two wholly different Wikipedia pages. The two entities now share the trademark and the name, but that's about it. As a matter of fact, the US government paused the proposed ban on TP-Link recently since it's now more of an American company than a Chinese company.
The page right now is super confusing to be honest. Auguste76840 (talk) 09:13, 16 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

This page needs to be separated.

[edit]

Hello.

Since TP-Link Technologies (China) and TP-Link Global, Inc. no longer are the same company, this Wikipedia page should be split in half.

They don't even share the same website anymore and aren't headquartered and owned by the same companies. Auguste76840 (talk) 20:15, 15 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

The description should probably be changed.

[edit]

Hello everyone ;

There is still kind of a problem when it comes to the legal status of the company.

TP-Link has a long history, but in 2024 following 2 restructuring, all international operations were migrated to the United States in the city of Irvine, as the article already states. the Shenzhen headquarters only manages operations inside of China ; and they aren't even the same company anymore : TP-Link Systems, Inc. (the international branch) claims they have no links to the Chinese entity. Whether it is true or not is unknown, as the FTC and US government are investigating. But legally, TP-Link Systems, Inc., which makes more sales and revenue than the Chinese branch, is American by right. As a matter of fact, they don't even share the same logo anymore (see the logo on https://tp-link.com versus on https://tp-link.com.cn).

Since the international entity still has some operations ongoing in China like R&D, I think a better description would be "Chinese origin company" or more accurately "Chinese-American technology company", since it would better represent the fact it's 2 companies that have no official links and the US entity manages all international sales. A request to create a new page dedicated to the US based TP-Link Systems Inc. was already made.

I'd like other opinions than my own. Auguste76840 (talk) 13:55, 18 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
