Citizens vs an ethnic group

[edit]

An IP editor decided that Syrian is only a nationaltiy and edited the article without a discussion and when got reverted he reverted back asking for no edit warring "please". Very good, then I ask you to FIRST engange in a discussion and gaining consensus based on reliable sources before you push your preferred version.

Please read the section: revival of the designation Syrian in the article. Here is a link to make it easier https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syrians#Revival_of_the_designation_%22Syrian%22

You will see that Syrian isnt just a nationaltiy but an ethnic designation revived and used by the Arabic speaking Syrians for the Arabic speaking Syrians. You simply cant call it "just a nationality". The most you can do is presenting your opinion if you have enough reliable sources supporting it and these sources also discuss the evolution of this designation, proving that it was always meant ONLY as a nationaltiy. Please engange in a discussion here with reliable sources as this is not a forum and we wont count on personal opinions.--Attar-Aram syria (talk) 07:19, 25 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
