The edit described by serendipitousstl seems not to have occurred (perhaps he forgot to save), but I agree that it should have. I have removed the full lyrics, but included a short excerpt in the article text to demonstrate the style of the song. --DavidK93 (talk) 10:05, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
I'm not an experienced enough Wikipedia editor to know how to best do this, but it seems important to note it: the "Not to be confused" line at the top of the page seems to refer to the same song. The section of the page for "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean" that describes "Sweet Violets" as a parody mentions the same Roud number. It seems clear to me that, given the number of different recordings and the added influence of the Emmet musical, this song should have its own page and not only be mentioned on the "My Bonnie" page, but I don't know what's the right way to combine the information.
