Though not a reliable source, this blog post has fascinating details about Mathew Carey republishing others' works in his own name, most notably Rowson's "Charlotte: A Tale of Truth", purportedly "the bestselling American novel for a century".
Should this be mentioned here? Does anyone have sources?
It's also not mentioned on Charlotte Temple, although Carey is mentioned there as the publisher of an edition attributed (by us) to Rowson.
