In 1979, Steve Martin would use Supertrain as the punchline of his 'Hobo' comedy bit (at least he did on one occasion - when he performed live at the Minnesota State Fair).

Martin, portraying himself as a down-and-out skidrow bum, is offered a second chance for a Hollywood career with an guest appearance on a network TV show. When he is told that the show is Supertrain, he immediately replies, "No thanks."
